GTX Q4 - File Description  


Description:
GTX is a powerful graphic mod for q4.

Features

Reflection on all weapons
Reflection on all marines
Reflection on the hands of the player
Reflection on all stroggs
Self-Shadows
Bloom effect
All shadows are now casted by the flashLight.

This mod is developed for run on the standard (vanilla) Quake4 campaign and on custom SP/MP Maps.

2)How to install/uninstall the mod:

Installation:
Extract the "GTXQ4" folder from the zip file in your Quake4 folder, run the game and chose "Quake 4: G T X" from the mod menu.
Enjoy!

Uninstallation:
You need only to delete the folder "GTXQ4" in your Quake4 path.

it's cool but, at the beginning of the game I noticed the ground was trying to do that metal FX that the marines armor does, and the bloom just needs to be turned down a little bit, everything else rocks.

How can I turn off the self_shadows. They look really terrible on human faces and are very jagged at times on other characters. Also, the flashlight completely dissapears whenevr it is aimed downwards. Is there any way I can turn off the complete flashlight shadows as well (if that is what is causing that) ? Other than these nitpicks great job. Love the bloom efect and the shin models look great, even if they are a bit too showy in darker areas where armor seems to glow in the dark. As I said before though. plz give me a way to turn off self-shadowing. I knew how to do it in Doom 3 but i have forgt since then. Thanks!!

and disable the player shadow wink

use these keys for activate/deactivate effects:
K = enable flashlight's shadows (need restart of the map)
L = disable flashlight's shadows (need restart of the map)
I = disable the bloom
O = enable the simple bloom
P = enable the full bloom

Thanks a bunch! Much better. However, the keys for turning off the flashlight shadows doesn't seem to work... I dunno. Also, the flashlight still dissapears when aimed at the ground. Beats me though... maybe it is my GFX card but it shouldn't have any probs. It's a X800 XT PE. I also have the Quake 4 1.05 beta patch installed.

Love this mod.

Im a huge bloom fan and was waiting for someone to incorporate it into q4 much like d3.

Thanks to the modmakers of this thread and to all modmakers in general.. ur work is really greatly appreciated.

Bloom is gay. it makes no sense. thats not waht things look like in real life so wtf IS bloom? anyway quake 4 is meant to look rugged and er ...cant explain.
rest is good though smile

Bloom adds a high density light to bright areas; like the effect of shine you'd get off metal on a car, or bright light on anything. It works well in Half Life 2's HDR engine.

Bloom is kinda irrelevant at times, but looks good in sky.

Oh, and as usual, nice mod. But you need to stop adding ultrareflective surfaces on everything... cause leather on the shotgun shouldn't reflect, cause there's metal that's dull and metal that's sharpened and toned to reflect. I suspect the Marines wouldn't want to be flashlight beacons when shone on.

It's only a minor inconvenience, I'll stick this mod with the Brilliant Highlights one if it works.
