Description:
After some time away, Dafama2K7 has returned and he has not come empty handed! Always striving to give you the best possible experience while playing Quake IV, he has been putting in some serious time and effort to produce some quality content for you, the Prey gamer! The New Shaders Pack is a small collection of the more popular Graphical Tweak mods that Dafama2K7 has updated in the past, and , yes, these to have been updated to their latest respective versions!
This pack contains the latest versions for some of the most popular shaders out there. If you want Doom 3, Quake 4, Prey and ETQW to look the best, then check this package divided in four sections, just go into the one you are interested in and drag & drop the folder mod to the game you may want to use the shaders on...

In the past Dafama2K7 used and considered this as his first and foremost standard shaders. At the last minute he has made an update based on the ETQW shaders that removes the inflated brilliant effect and add a more natural look.
- Brilliant Highlights mod shaders
Now, this is the shaders used by this developer as standard, and a 2008 actual good-look shader. This surely is the best shader ever made. In this update, the Metallic effect that was too much exaggerated has been removed.
- Brilliant Highlights Old style mod shaders
Not as good as the BHNGMod shaders, but the developer wanted to at least make the last version of this shader, this is a shader that looks like playing Quake II with IdTech4 (D3) engine, very rusty and metallic.
If you have the power, go for it, the latest Relief will be included in the next package that are even more 3D, but at this moment, try this Unreal Engine 3 alike shaders.
Also for the Parallax Shaders, Dafama2K7 has made the update based on the ETQW shaders that removes the brilliant effect and adds a more natural look. Now, a bad bug has been fixed and the developer has placed the BHMod_NG + Parallax Extreme mix as the first priority shader in Parallax and the NG + Parallax Extreme as the secondary shader...not as good as the invincible latest Relief Extreme shaders, but it needs far less FPS power and after removing an old bug that caused artifacts in the past, now looks very, very good !
Relief Extreme shaders - (Notice that this time this Relief shaders are an UPDATE ONLY !, (Except on PREY game, that Dafama2K7 has been able to included the FULL Relief Extreme mod), you will need to install the latest full version available FIRST !) This modified shader was created to test Relief Mapping technique with high-quality game art. Note, however, that some geometry will not look correct with Relief Mapping as the art for the game was not created for this effect. "For correct use of the technique the edges of scene polygons should have no displacement (depth=0). But, since the depth maps were created from the game normal maps this is not guaranteed. Now, a very bad old bug that was even on the original Relief shaders mod, so, it was a bug not introduced by me, and now with that bug fixed and the Relief Extreme shaders updated to the max, it's easily the BEST of the BEST shaders, with more relief on all textures and models and this time without artifacts, with all the NG + Relief Extreme features included, really, go, try this, seeing in action this marvel it's addictive, it's gorgeous, it's real !!!"

ATTENTION, VERY IMPORTANT !!!...:
Recently i have made a very important discover for a D3, Q4, Prey and ETQW configurations, and yes, needs more power from your computer, but it's worth a million, please, believe me, now read the explanation, eh, don't worry, is very EASY to follow, just follow my instructions Marine...:
In the Autoexec.cfg file please, add the following three lines...
seta r_useIndexBuffers "1" //Needs to be 1 on both index and vertex !
seta r_useVertexBuffers "1" //Needs to be 1 on both index and vertex !
seta r_vertexBufferMegs "128" //Needs to grow as higher the ressolution mode !
Do not set any of this three lines separately, because if one of this lines isn't set,
the game will CRASH !
Rememeber to add the vid_Restart instruction at the end of the autoexec.cfg file to
activate the settings, or you will not see any difference !!!
If you try to type this lines while in game from the console, remember to type vid_Restart
command after typing the three lines to activate the new settings !
If you are experimenting stuttering, not smooth enough frame rate, this can happen specially
on Relief and Parallax shaders, you will need to increasse the r_vertexBufferMegs "128" to
r_vertexBufferMegs "256" or higher, but do it with care, too high value or too low value can crash
the game !
Q...: Well, and now, the explanation, what this lines adds or changes to the look of Doom 3,
Quake 4, Prey, ETQW and any other IdTech4 engine based game ???
A...: The lightning, the shadows, now they are almost REAL, this config and console
instructions combined with my latest gorgeous shaders makes the faces and skins almost real, the
metal, all the ambient, all the surfaces beyond any other 2008 title, it's incredible, try it,
see it for yourself !!!

Now, i want to make a mix of the latest BHMod_NG + Relief Extreme shaders, i am working on it and trying, with no luck at the moment, it's all deformed, wrong, but i know, with some patience, i will be able to done it, wait...
Extra Bonus folder...:
Now, i have added an extra bonus folder containing NEW updated shaders for the great game Riddick EFBB, if you have this game, don't wait more, stop reading and try it now !!!
If not, i recommend carefully to buy this good game, althougth it's a 2004 title, specially it's 3D engine looks amazing, really ! :D

Of course, thanks to the original authors of all this mods, i have only fixed, tweaked and update it all them to feel & look even more incredible, realistically and natural.
Succesfully translating an old but; The BEST 2004 High Quality Id Software Technology into; The BEST and NEW 2008 High Quality Id Software Technology !!!
Final Note !...:
Concerning ETQW game, i have only tested the latest ETQW Demo 2 and tweaked the shaders based on them, so try it at your own risk, :D ...I carefully recommend to make backups first, and i can only certify that it succesfully enhances and make the shaders of the ETQW demo 2 and demo 1 to feel and look even better !!!
Warning !, although the mod is based on the latest Demo 2, anyway, the retail game may have newer shaders with even better and/or much more optimized features, i don't know because i still don't have the full retail game, :( but i hope to be able to buy it shortly, of course, this and the NEW RTCW 2, both based on the latest D3 engine (now called IdTech v4), always being AWESOME !!!
Latest hour information !!!...:
Extremely enhanced all shaders, including specially enhanced ones for the great ETQW game, of course.
I have fixed a too much over powered metallic effect on all Shaders for D3, Q4 and Prey versions of the mods, specially looking very worst on the BHNG Mod. :(.
Fortunately, ETQW doesn't have this problem, so no changes required on there. :)
The Q4 version does not need the metallic effect to be lowered as much as in the other game versions, but anyway i have made special versions for all shader mods, keeping the special features and ways to do it for each version, so, no problem there, also... :)
Also i have updated the Q4 and Prey versions of the latest Enhanced shaders, because i was previously packed in, some older versions and forget to update them, now all versions including D3, Q4 and Prey versions of Enhanced shaders are all fully updated and fixed. :)
Parallax Extreme shaders mods have been enhanced sensibely with his own very unique and with much deeper 3D look ! :)
And now, from this latest version this Shaders mods package includes the latest NEW Relief Extreme mod for all versions, note, though, that i have included an update only version, so it requires a previous full version to be installed first !
But anyway, if you have the over powered machine required to play the Relief Mapping Technology based extreme mod, don't wait, go and try it, now !!! :D
And even i have included also better shaders for the Riddick ETBB game as a bonus.

They work in Doom3 but this 2.0 pack doesnt work at all for me, all of the shaders are torn and ripped when the game starts(flickering black blotches all over the map and people). Im on mac OSX 10.4.7 and i have a 128Mb vram video card, i know this info probably wont help at all getting shaders working for me but... yeah i guess im stuck with stock Q4 shaders. |

dafama2k7 From: (Salt (Girona)) Joined: September 28th, 2006 Posts: 3019 | Any mod should come packed in a compressed .zip file, you need to use a WINRAR or WINZIP alike program to open that file and drag the folder (that folder contains .pk4's zipped files that contains the mod code) you should find on the zipped file into the ROOT directory of the Quake 4 game, then start the Q4 game and select it from the mods list, that game will reload but executing the mod you selected taking control of the Q4 game, (this behaviour is the same for D3, Prey and any other D3 engine based game), then you can start some map to try what differences the mod does, you can for example load any map opening the console and tyiping...: map game/nameofthespmap to load and play, or for an mp map, you can type spawnserver mp/nameofthempmap you want to play.
