Quake 4 Reborn Light (V1) - File Description  


Description:
This mod is meant to make the game more "real" with the following changes below:

*Most weapons are tweaked to do more damage, between 1-2 times damage

*Bodies stay forever

*Marines drop their guns when they die

*The bosses are more difficult

*Bullet casings stay forever

*Marines should be better fighters in most situations

*Guns have various clip-size and fire-rate tweaks

*The Railgun and Nailgun can stick dead enemies to nearby walls for a short period of time.

PART 1: INTRODUCTION

If you're chronologicly confused about the naming system for my Quake 4 mods, you aren't the only one. I was gonna release a Q4 Reborn V2, but I don't think
Quake 4 interests me as much any more so I'm afraid you'll have to make do with this, at least for a while anyhow. Why did I make another mod? Well besides
the (mostly positive) feedback on my otehr mods, I thought I'd make this as a celebration/backup due to getting my new PC. It's a beast all right, and while
this mod should work fine on normal machines, people under the minimum spec may want to avoid this one or at least don't cry when it lags too bad to play.
Features in this mod are: Various weapon tweaks to deal around 2X more damage, some clip-sizes reduced while some fire-rates are increased, nothing huge
though. Bodies and shell casings stay around forever (this is the thing that may cause lag on low end PC's), also your fellow Marines drop their weapons upon
death. Nailgun sticks enimies to nearby walls for a short period of time and the Railgun is a very high power one shot one kill afair. Also the shotgun now
has a flashlight. That is pretty much it, enjoy and PLEASE comment and rate!

PART 2: INSTALLATION

Simply drag the folder "q4r_light" (not the "q4rl_mod" folder) into your Quake 4 Folder. Do NOT drag it into your q4base. Start up Quake 4 and select the
"MODS" tab, look for "Quake 4 Reborn Light". Select this and have fun! Please note that Quake 4 will re-start to initalize the mod, it should only take a
second.



PART 3: UN-INSTALLATION

Simply delete the "q4r_light" folder to un-install.



PART 4: LISCENSE/CREDITS



A big thanks to Murphy and David, both of you gave me a big hand with my modding. Also, I'd like to say a prayer in Larry's memory. I hope he's in a better
place now. He was a valuble asset to the modding community and a good man as far as I could tell. Feel free to use this mod as you see fit, just credit me

I take no resposibility for any damage or trouble this mod causes you. Do not whine to me about anything. If you have suggestions, thats nice, but don't try
and sue me when you delete half your PC's files trying to un-install my mod :P

this is really great but the bodies don't seem to stay, everything else works fine though big grin but i can only give it 7/10 cause of taht little bug. if a fix was released then it would be a definite 10/10

are you certain that the bodies do not stay? hmmm I will investigate, but they stayed for me, except for the ones on the convoy level and in the Dark Matter room where you aquire a DMG.

well funny just as soon as i said it the bodies stayed but the bullet casings didn't stay this time, i wonder is it because im running it on a mac or something but that shouldn't really make a difference

Mac you say?!? Well its really built for Windows only, Linux may work as well, but I've never use a Mac in my life so I have no clue how Q4 works on one. The bullet casing problem is easy to fix open up the cosole and type this in:

g_brasstime 1800

press "enter" to activate it and voila! your casings should now stay around forever.

well considering its the exact same engine and same hierarchal folder system used in the quake 4 engine on both linux and windows i dont really see that presenting a problem but thanks anyway big grin

with Macs I really don't know. I used to use Linux, so I know it will probably work. But you're welcome.
