Description:
This package is comprised of...:

NG shaders - In the past i use and consider this as my first and foremost standard shaders.
Now, a NEW Parallax without artifacts have been added as standard.

Brilliant Highlights mod shaders - Now, this are the shaders i use as standard, sure a 2009 actual good look shaders. This surely are the best shaders never made.
Fixed an odd bug introduced by me that added very bad looking shadows !!!
Now, a NEW Parallax without artifacts have been added as standard.

Brilliant Highlights Old style mod shaders - Not as good as the BHNGMod shaders, but i wanted to at least make the surely the last version of this shaders, this are a shaders that looks like playing Quake II with IdTech4 (D3) engine, very rusty and metallic.

NEW Shaders Mod Pack for Doom 3, Quake 4, E.T.Q.W., Prey & Riddick EFBB v3.0 FULL...:






ATTENTION, VERY IMPORTANT !!!...:

Recently i have made a very important discover for a D3, Q4, Prey and ETQW configurations, and yes, needs more power from your computer, but it's worth a million, please, believe me, now read the explanation, eh, don't worry, is very EASY to follow, just follow my instructions Marine...:

In the Autoexec.cfg file please, add the following three lines...


seta r_useIndexBuffers "1" //Needs to be 1 on both index and vertex !
seta r_useVertexBuffers "1" //Needs to be 1 on both index and vertex !
seta r_vertexBufferMegs "128" //Needs to grow as higher the ressolution mode !


Do not set any of this three lines separately, because if one of this lines isn't set,
the game will CRASH !

Rememeber to add the vid_Restart instruction at the end of the autoexec.cfg file to
activate the settings, or you will not see any difference !!!

If you try to type this lines while in game from the console, remember to type vid_Restart
command after typing the three lines to activate the new settings !

If you are experimenting stuttering, not smooth enough frame rate, this can happen specially
on Relief and Parallax shaders, you will need to increasse the r_vertexBufferMegs "128" to
r_vertexBufferMegs "256" or higher, but do it with care, too high value or too low value can crash
the game !



Q...: Well, and now, the explanation, what this lines adds or changes to the look of Doom 3,
Quake 4, Prey, ETQW and any other IdTech4 engine based game ???

A...: The lightning, the shadows, now they are almost REAL, this config and console
instructions combined with my latest gorgeous shaders makes the faces and skins almost real, the
metal, all the ambient, all the surfaces beyond any other 2008 title, it's incredible, try it,
see it for yourself !!!

This are the latest versions for some of the most popular shaders out there. If you want Doom 3, Quake 4, Prey and ETQW to look the best, then check this package divided in four sections, just go into the one you are interested in and drag & drop the folder mod to the game you may want to use the shaders on...

Now, i want to make a mix of the latest BHMod_NG + Relief Extreme shaders, i am working on it and trying, with no luck at the moment, it's all deformed, wrong, but i know, with some patience, i will be able to done it, wait... (no more wait, done now ;D)



Extra Bonus folder...:

Now, i have added an extra bonus folder containing NEW updated shaders for the great game Riddick EFBB, if you have this game, don't wait more, stop reading and try it now !!!
If not, i recommend carefully to buy this good game, althougth it's a 2004 title, specially it's 3D engine looks amazing, really ! :D
Now, a NEW Parallax without artifacts have been added as standard.
Also now Riddick is compatible with and uses my NEW lastest Q4 shaders with Parallax included.

Note !...:

Of course, thanks to the original authors of all this mods, i have only fixed, tweaked and update it all them to feel & look even more incredible, realistically and natural.
Succesfully translating an old but; The BEST 2004 High Quality Id Software Technology into; The BEST and NEW 2009 High Quality Id Software Technology !!!



Final Note !...:

Concerning ETQW game, i have only tested the latest ETQW Demo 2 and tweaked the shaders based on them, so try it at your own risk, :D ...I carefully recommend to make backups first, and i can only certify that it succesfully enhances and make the shaders of the ETQW demo 2 and demo 1 to feel and look even better !!!

Warning !, although the mod is based on the latest Demo 2, anyway, the retail game may have newer shaders with even better and/or much more optimized features, i don't know because i still don't have the full retail game, :( but i hope to be able to buy it shortly, of course, this and the NEW RTCW 2, both based on the latest D3 engine (now called IdTech v4), always being AWESOME !!!
Now, a NEW Parallax without artifacts have been added as standard.

Remember that is absolutely essential to have set the image_lodbias to the -2 value with console command...:

set image_lodbias -2

This set by default on the Autoexec.cfg config. file included into the mod folder, but i remember that for people that don't want to use this config. file.

The best is that everyone adjust to his needs this Autoexec.cfg configuration file, because it sets beyond others the values for gamma, that i raised up to 1.5 from the default 1.0 value because my old but good Philips crt screen monitor needs this, at least since i have my NVidia GT7600 gfx card ¿?

This release have changed many things, like the Parallax effect that is less high but almost perfect, and also i have fixed a very important bug in the glass shaders, now they looks awesome, the environment.vfp and bumpyenvironment.vfp that are used for this has been enhanced a little bit also.

Some small bugs has been fixed on ambientlight.vfp but i am sure i will enhance more in a future because i am working on some new things made by Maha-X that may make ambient occlusion better, also in this release there is no Specially made Parallax shaders although all shaders have Parallax enabled, and i haven't had time to include the new Relief shaders that are amazing but that will be included on next release, ok ! smile Two Thumbs Up!

The NG shaders that comes with Unpredictable can be replaced with the latest version present on this shaders pack or even changed by the .pk4 of the shaders you want to use, maybe bhng, maybe bhmod...

Anyway, here in my home i am very happy testing a new ambientlight.vfp that enhances even more the Unpredictable Q4 look, this is thanks to a little part of work extracted from Maha-X shaders and TRSGM shaders on latest Dentonmod v3 for Doom 3 based also on latest Nightmare beta mod by Zakyrus that is also based on latest Dentonmod v2 by JC Denton. Rock

All this shaders are very easy to translate to work on Q4 and Prey, just one line change !!! Beer! Beer!

Oh, and if someone has green screen problems on ATI gfx cards or something alike i know how to fix it, ask me anything, i am always happy to answer any questions if it's in my hands to be able to do it. Pimp!

Hey dafama2K7... i installed the new shaders from here:

seems to have solved the glitching problem, but i have to fiddle around with the gamma to make it correct. My NVIDIA control panel says it's at 40%, but then in Quake4 settings, i change the brightness to 1, which resets things totally.

Not sure what setting is correct, but i think you're on the right path with the newer shader mod. integrate it into THIS mod (Unpredictable) and i think that will solve the problem. i'll be happy to test an update to Unpredictable to find out if it is the solution.

hello again! you're going to get sick of me, dafama2K7 wink

i noticed that this new shader pack has a sharp line down the middle of the marines' faces, kind of like the lighting difference between the two polygons in the forehead are not being smoothed correctly...

i hope that makes sense!

i'm still playing with the light and gamma... any recommendations welcome smile

@Dysamoria - Thanks for the feedback, it helps me to trace the bugs, i am working on new versions and i will upload them when done to most other D3 and Q4 and Id software games web sites, so i hope to see all of you on moddb and other places !

Using the Brilliant Highlights mod from this pack has caused ugly shadowing artifacts for me using the latest Q4 patch (1.4.2) on an nVidia Geforce 9800GTX+. The best way I can describe the look of it is that it is as if the shadows were made 'mosaic-like' or 'pixelated,' then rounded around the edges of said blocks. What I end up with are dark shadows where the light is completely occluded, and then many little black blobs where the shadow falls off towards the light source. It is most noticible on character faces, but is apparent everywhere.

It may be one of the many config settings supplied with the pack, however since those configs contain NUMEROUS settings that have absolutely nothing to do with this mod (unnecessary bindings, contradictory and/or system-specific performance tweaks, etc.) I refuse to use them. However I did emulate all image-related settings from your autoexec.cfg to my own custom one. If there are cvars that must be set for all to work properly, may I suggest you instead supply only an autoexec.cfg with a line that says something to the effect of "exec shadersettings.cfg" and then the shadersettings.cfg (or whatever you wish to call it) should contain all the settings that must be applied. Your supplied configs do various things that simply don't need to be included. That said, I made sure "image_lodbias -2" was set, as mentioned in the comments here on Quake4Files, though that in of itself causes texture shimmering...

Clearly I'm missing something, as your screenshots look great and others seem to love your shaders. Ideas?

I was a bit hasty in assuming that it was this shader mod that caused my issue. Turns out it was the High Res Textures mod I forgot I had installed. That aside, I stand by the fact that the erroneous autoexec.cfg and Quake4Config.cfg settings included in both this and the High Res Textures mod do nothing but confuse and, in fact, cause potential performance issues. Case in point, from the autoexec.cfg in most if not all your mods:

seta com_videoRam "256"

This overrides the engine detected amount of VRAM available. This absolutely should not be included. Nor should options that alter view bobbing, difficulty level, enabling of cheats, friendly fire, and others. Sorry if I'm just complaining a lot (and I am), but regardless of how well done the actual shaders may be, these config files are highly problematic. At the very least, some more detailed comments and proper organization of the cvars would make it significantly more professional. Anyway, good luck to you in your future modding.
