Description:
Some good news comes down the pipe for everyone today! Without further delay, here is what you've all been waiting for...We now have, for your immediate gaming enjoyment, the much anticipated Unpredictable NG Q4 (v1.0) for Quake IV! This Single Player mod offers, among a wide range of other changes, all of the latest features that are taken advantage of by Dafama2K7 and has undergone numerous bug fixes. The true purpose of Unpredictable NG Q4 (v1.0) is to keep you, the player, on the edge of your seat...not knowing what is around the corner, or lurking in the dark; You are drawn into this game with the AI interaction and the awesome playability...with the best part being that the baddies are completely Unpredictable!
    Some of the features include:
    • New Public FULL MOD (non beta) version, at last !
    • Marines drop their weapons when dead
    • Enhanced all player and some (ATM) enemy weapons.
    • Enhanced all vehicle weapons.
    • Improved the MGUN & Shotgun debris and brass.
    • More realistic flashlights mounted for Blaster, MGUN and SGUN.
    • Much more powerful mounted weapons for all vehicles.
    • Balanced ammo for all weapons, less ammo

This is a mod specially aimed at playability, gfx & fx enhancements, sound changes GUI updates and much more for Quake IV. Now Dafama2K7 is taking the Q4 mod development very seriously; He has stated that he has gained more experience with them and although he has to limit himself to not being able to use scripting, at least at the moment on Q4 mods, because Raven is not letting the mod creators to use this important thing.

Description...:


This is a mod specially aimed at playability, gfx & fx enhancements, sound changes
GUI updates and much more for Quake IV. Now i am taking very seriously the Q4 mod
development, i have gained more expirience with them and although i have to limit
myself to not being able to use scripting, at least at the moment on Q4 mods, because Raven not letting the mod creators to use this important thing, i have to say that even in this way i am very happy with the way this mod are going, at this moment, specially the weapons and vehicles are the more tweaked but from the next v1.0 release i will start also to change the A.I. to make it smart and unpredictable !

Also i am now speeding up many weapons and specially monster anims to make the
game much harder and the action will be much faster, also the zombies will be
more scary while going at you very quick and trying to kill you !

To do...:


- Very important to add a working melee to gauntlet weapon with a big push and knockback. I have try it to do it many times, but i am unable to do it to date. :(
- Smarter A.I., more than already is.
- Better and more weapon mods to add.
- Being able to select the player to be a Marine or a Strogg at any moment. :D
- Change many, many objects on the maps that are actually static and i want all them to be moveable, easy to do but a very repetitive work.
- Add more health to monsters, specially the big ones, but keeping the balance.
- Make the game more different played on for example Skill 0 or 1 than 2 or 3 and very hard from Skill 4 or 5 (Crazy !).
- If i can... Add the new GravityGun weapon that i am actually trying to make it work on another Quake 4 mod.
- Any idea, tell me anything, i am very happy to have feedback from the users.
- Add impact flash for all bullet and laser weapons.
- Add a highlight effect on the zoom of some weapons like mgun for example.
- Be able to select the mode or add/remove features on the weapons, maybe including a package with some or all the weapon mods to add.
- Disable vehicles from going locked, so the player can exit the vehicle at any time ! :D

- Added latest & newer Brilliant Highlights NG shaders mod.
- Added NEW lightning thanks to using index buffers on the Autoexec.cfg file.
- Powerfull and faster vehicle weapons with zoom and flashlight mounted added.
- Activated, use of penumbra shadows and level of detail (LOD) for shadows and entities on the Autoexec.cfg configuration file.
- Fixed shadows feature on the material shaders to use the same kind of shadows of Doom 3 and Prey, now making Quake 4 more creepy and realistic !
- Activated three different missile fire on the Walker and Gev (tank) vehicles.
- Added muzzleflash and faster fire rate with less spread for all vehicle mounted machineguns.

- Fixed a zombie fx bug i was added on previous release.
- Zombies can be gibbed, bloody !!!
- Fixed shogun flashlight mounted bug that made the light to be fixed when you raise, reload or fire the weapon.
- Fixed again blaster, machinegun and shotgun mounted flashlights offset that prevented to see it at all when looking down with those weapons, now it's not
perfect but is much better.
- Fixed tramcar vehicle that i was added too much mounted guns in previous
release.
- Added muzzleflash to tramcar mounted gun.
- Bettered the AAS that tells the A.I. where it can walk.
- Added AAS support files for more official MP maps included with the game.
- Fixed a nasty bug in the light.mtr that prevented some vehicle flashlights to show correctly.

- Updated to BHMod_NG shaders from NG shaders, because are even better, in fact this updated version are almost comparable to UT3 or ETQW shaders in many aspects.
- Bettered flashlights for Blaster, MGun and Shotgun and fixed the offset.
- Added dynamic lights and shadows to many FX and materials used by weapons.
- Better vehicle weapons, added zoom to many of them.
- Better weapons, added zoom to all of them.
- Optimized tools scripts, thanks to Mausus Atlas !
- Added very good 'idle' sounds to LightningGun and NapalmGun weapons.

- Missiles and non bullet projectiles now have health so they can be damaged in the air.
- The Gev Tank and the Walker Mech have now drastically enhanced, added zoom and both have a third new type of projectile to fire !!!
- The TramGun and others have a new zoom with GUI added feature and the weapon can go to hot if used for more than 15 seconds without pause, in that case it will need a 10 seconds wait time to refresh.
- And finally of course, many bugs have been fixed.


v0.8- This time it's an update, the previous v0.7 full is needed to be installed
first.
- Updated to latest NG shaders.
- Removed redundant files, now mod size is smaller.
- Fixed mainmenu in game music not being played by default.
- Changed mainmenu default and in game music.
- Changed screen, splash and generic loading screens in both .dds and .tga
formats (compressed and uncompressed).
- Added a little D3 alike zoom pressing the alternate (right) mouse button.

Also, i want to take the opportunity to ask all the Q4 users to please tell me any bug, new ideas, constructive criticism, in fact, anything that may help to improve tthis my/your mod, ok, thanks. smile

I really hope that we like it, i have worked hard to give more packed action, scary things, bloody, little smart A.I., and more...

And... Today i have started to work on the next version of Unpredictable mod that will be an easy to install update and of course will require to be installed first this v1.0 Un predictable Q4 full mod.

Enlisted NEW features not complete for next UP mod update v1.1 is...:

-Fixes to weapons zoom and GUIs.
-Powerful MECH vehicle F.E.A.R. 2 and Rid***** EFBB alike based on.
-Futuristic LED based mounted white flashlights for all weapons and vehicles for players, npcs and all kind of Stroggs !
-Much powerful explosions for barrels with more push and knockback for all movable objects being affected on the explosion radius !
-And more, fixes, optimizacions, any good ideas from Q4 users are always welcome, of course !

This mod comes with various .pk4 files, two of which are required for parallax shaders, one contains .dds texture compressed parallax updated files and another contains .tga HQ texture uncompressed parallax updated files, and also a smaller third .pk4 that activates the latest NG shaders with support for a NEW ETQW based & tweaked to be even better Parallax effect, well, and a lot more of new shaders things, like enhanced color, shadows, rusty and with much detailed texture look, better glass and transparent alike effect enhancement for textures and a lot more...

What i want to say is that this requires a BIG powerful computer and GFX card with lots of memory to play Q4 at decent high resolution screen modes, so if don't want this shaders, simply remove or better rename this three .pk4s to the same names but ending in .pk4.zip instead of .pk4, so if you change your mind later or upgrade your computer you still can re-activate this 3 .pk4.zips just renaming all three to .pk4 ending names, without the .zip extension, ok.

The Q4 v1.04beta patch that is the most compatible with all kind of mods and without the annoying CPU bugs that all the higher updates still has, this old but 100% compatible patch is available here...:

You can use Q4 with this patch and the latest Unpredictable mod and you will have access to the Napalmgun weapon without the need to upgrade to higher patch versions.

Please, note, that i recommend this patch and mod for Single Player users ONLY, NOT for Multi Player users that will be able to play best with the latest v1.4.2 or higher patch, ok, understand it !

Also note, that you haven't had any problems playing with any of the latest patches available for Q4, you don't need the older v1.04beta patch and of course you will be able to play all my mods without any problems, ok.

Thanks for the "heads-up" info on the patches. They can cause a good mod to go bad in a hurry ! Any extra info on a particular mod build is always helpful and can help others figure out potential problem spots they may run into. Keep up the good work ! 10 / 10 Two Thumbs Up!

I have been forced to use this v1.04beta update patch and NOT anything higher because from the next update patch and up the weapons start to do wrong things, like for example the trace models aren't visible at certain times, the brass ejection does not work at times and the CPU settings may crash the Q4 game, this kind of things that prevents me to update my Q4 to latest patched versions doesn't happened on any other games, like D3 and Prey that work perfectly well with his latest update patches, although no CPU settings where tweaked on this last two games from Id software and Human Head respectively.

Just wanted to notice this to other users that may or may not have been encountered this kind of problems.

On next Unpredictable Q4 instalment that surely would be an update that would be installed after the actual v1.0 full mod, overwriting any old stuff i am working on this and other NEW FEATURES...:

-Better exploding and burning barrels explosions with higher push of any npcs, players, objects and anything movable that is closer on the explosion radius !

-Powerful WALKERS, the new Walkers would be able to easily kill any other mech seen on FEAR 2 or Rid*****, with better fire power , better lights, faster movements, see this video that is not mine but that i have been inspired by... big grin

-NEW sounds for weapons, monsters, well, i will do what i can, because i am not the best for the sound department.

Also, i will like to the fx that is on both MGUN and BLASTER to SGUN weapon, that can be seen on this two first weapons when the mounted flashlight is ON, if anyone can help me, i want to do it, of course for better realism !

-And will include the latest NG shaders, meanwhile i want to remember that you can take the latest .pk4 file of new NG shaders from the Shaders pack v3.0 mod folder and add it to the Unpredictable mod folder replacing the old one that i know it contains some small bug. This is for even better looking, of course also the NG shaders .pk4 file can be removed and replaced by your preferred shader .pk4 file or simply removed if you don't want to update the shader and play it with the standard Q4 shaders that comes with the game by default. Pimp!

i've been playing the single player game and finding lots of visual glitches in areas of computer displays and control panels. they're covered with characters (english and strogg) and glitchy. some polygons are not visible on displays. the glitching is even worse around other special effects like volumetrics. it gets so bad that the stats for your player are impossible to read (weapon, health, etc) and eventually weapon fire goes away completely.

i've not seen glitching in Quake4 like this before and seems only present with this mod running.

i'm using a NVIDIA Gforce 8800 GTX.... Help?

@Dysamoria - First things, first !

Make sure that you have set the sys_lang to english, so open the console and type...:

sys_lang english

And then type this to reload and activate all the resources in game...:

reloadEngine

You can check now if this glitches continue to appear or at least part of them are away.

I recommend better to add this line on the Autoexec.cfg preferences file on the folder of this mod and on the q4base folder also.

Other commands that needs to be at a concrete value are...:

image_lodbias -2

image_filter GL_LINEAR_MIPMAP_LINEAR

com_machineSpec 3

r_renderer BEST

cm_drawNormals 1

If after setting all this values and then restarting the gfx with executing the vid_Restart command doesn't solve the glitches then you can try to remove or better rename to .zip the file named zz_ng_shaders_q4.pk4.

Remove the file named zz_ng_shaders_q4.pk4 that contains the gfx shaders or better rename that file to the same name but with .zip added in the end of the name, that should result in a file named zz_ng_shaders_q4.pk4.zip

Another way could be to open this zz_ng_shaders_q4.pk4 file with some WinRAR or WinZIP archive program and drag & drop the glprogs folder into the q4base_dfm folder that is what is named the folder that contains this mod, then you need to go into that glprogs folder and remove or rename any of the next files...:

interaction.vfp

test.vfp

shadow.vfp

colorProcess.vfp

ambientlight.vfp

environment.vfp

bumpyenvironment.vfp

simpleinteraction.vfp

And any of the files starting in md5.

If you can solve the glitches in this way remember then to go out of this folder and drag & drop that glprogs folder from the mod folder into the zz_ng_shaders_q4.pk4 file, so it is fixed and then you can safely remove the glprogs folder that is into the mod folder, not the .pk4 file, ok !

Oh, and if you know what file was doing the glitches remember to tell me so i can fix it, please. smile

The quotes aren't needed to by typed.

Thanks for responding with suggestions. i tried removing ALL the PK4 files from the MOD's folder (except the _dfm files) and there was no change. i even let Quake replace the config files by moving those out, too. strangely, removing all the other PK4 files did NOT seem to change anything at all. Removing the napalm gun PK4 files didn't seem to remove the gun, either?!?

i think the problem lies within the _dfm files... i'm going to have a look in those to see if there's anything worth messing with. i'm not a mod maker, just a player, so i don't think i will have any luck... but i'll post again if i do.

Any more ideas?

Aside from this bug, i really do like what you've done with this mod, btw. It really enhances the game a LOT! smile

Are you sure you are really playing the game with my mod ???

Make sure that in the console "fs_game_base" or "fs_game" you see the word "q4base_dfm" set !

I hope to see all of you on other sites for Doom 3, Quake 4 and anything related to Id software games, ok ! smile

She has the NVidia GT8600 and i have only a NVidia GT7600, i will install the Q4 game with my mod on her computer and try to make a specific version if needed or at least a compatible one of my shaders for this GFX card, ok !

I hope to see all of you on other sites for Doom 3, Quake 4 and anything related to Id software games, ok ! smile

oh yeah, i AM using your MOD. smile smile

it kicks **** except for the bugs. i just encountered a new one: i looked down an elevator shaft and then turned around... and the player's body (arms and gun) didn't move with me. i basically turned the cam and not the body, according to the renderer.

could you point me to a file list for the q4base folder as it is SUPPOSED to be so i can make sure there isn't ANY other mods being automatically loaded? i don't want to uninstall and reinstall again (done that too many times) just to make sure there are no other mods in there that i forgot about ! smile

i have to say that Quake 4 was the most interesting and well thought out shooter i've played. i actually completed it in almost two sessions. it kept me coming back for more. there was great game-play variety in it. the non-player characters really helped the game be more interesting and motivate me to continue playing. it was nice to care about and see some characters progress through the game... unlike most of the other shooters where there is you... alone... all the time...

now i have to go finally play the other 1st person shooters i have... hopefully they will be as entertaining... though i know most of them are games in isolation (few to zero non-player characters to keep you company)... i have both Half-life 1 and 2 (plus episode 1) and Doom3 (yeah, still haven't finished it... i got bored bored bored), Prey (which i hope is fun despite the fact that it looks to be a loner game like Doom, and then Crysis, which is less lonely and more interactive overall (and BEAUTIFUL!).

if you update this MOD, i will definitely come back and test it. Quake 4 will stay on my hard drive for a while longer smile

i posted this in the wrong place before...

Hey dafama2K7... i installed the new shaders from here:

seems to have solved the glitching problem, but i have to fiddle around with the gamma to make it correct. My NVIDIA control panel says it's at 40%, but then in Quake4 settings, i change the brightness to 1, which resets things totally.

Not sure what setting is correct, but i think you're on the right path with the newer shader mod. integrate it into THIS mod (Unpredictable) and i think that will solve the problem. i'll be happy to test an update to Unpredictable to find out if it is the solution.

i can send you screen shots of the corrupted glitchy screens ingame if you like. the new shaders have cut down on the glitches but the ingame displays are still glitchy. let me know where to put these images. i took two shots on board the Hannible...

Heya I was wondering if someone could help me out. Been trying for a little while to get the mod to work but everytime I try to start it up it crashes to the desktop; no error message or anything. I've tried with all different patch versions and so far no go. Any help would be greatly appreciated =D

Very important, i want to let know all Q4 community that i am going to start working on a BIG project for Q4 to port all or almost all D3 weapon mods that are original and has custom models at least and that does NOT are D3 standard weapons to Prey and to Q4 if i can (it's hard to make mods for Q4 because this game doesn't easily let to create or translate scripts to Q4 as far as i know !), so what i am talking right now is that i am going to convert all custom weapons mods that i can from D3 to Prey and Q4, of course asking first and foremost for permission to every original mod authors ! Rock
